Ingredients
Please see recipe card at the bottom of this post for the full recipe details.
1. Maple Sugar
A natural, unrefined sweetener that gives this BBQ sauce its rich sweetness without using processed sugars. It adds a subtle caramel depth that pairs beautifully with smoky flavors.
2. Ketchup
The base that brings that classic BBQ tang and tomato richness. Choose a gluten-free, clean-ingredient version without corn syrup or artificial additives for the best flavor – I love this brand.
3. White Vinegar
Adds brightness and that signature BBQ “zing.” It balances the sweetness and keeps the sauce from feeling too heavy.
4. Butter
Gives the sauce a rich, velvety finish. It softens the acidity and enhances the overall flavor, making it taste more homemade and less like store-bought.
5. Dijon Mustard
Adds a subtle sharpness and depth that elevates the sauce beyond basic sauce. It helps balance the sweetness while adding a slight tangy complexity.
6. Worcestershire Sauce
Brings that deep, savory umami flavor that makes BBQ sauce irresistible. It adds layers of tang, spice, and richness in just a small amount. Make sure to choose a gluten free option for this sauce.
7. Smoked Paprika
Delivers a gentle smoky flavor that mimics slow-cooked BBQ. It’s key for that classic backyard barbecue taste—even without a smoker.
8. Onion Powder
Adds a mild savory sweetness and rounds out the flavor profile without adding texture.
9. Salt
Enhances and ties all the flavors together. Adjust based on taste and the saltiness of your ketchup and Worcestershire sauce.
10. Pepper
Adds a light kick and balances the sweetness with just a touch of warmth.
