We hunted for the perfect property (just before everyone else started their hunt in 2020) and we thought we had found it when we put an offer in on an old 40 acre horse ranch. God said, that’s not the one - and He pulled it from under our feet like only He can do. A few days later another property popped up. I said “this isn’t it, God” and I sent it to another friend who was on a land hunt specifically saying “I found this property, it’s not for us, maybe you will like it.” Instantly I felt convicted in my bones to call the owner of this property I didn’t want and tell him that I was buying his home. It made absolutely no sense - but if you know God, you know it made perfect sense.

Long story short, the property was everything I wanted and we ended up getting it. God is so good.

Now we are living on a generational homestead with my parents and Jason’s parents are living not too far away. Life is good!

Our children are unschooled, living a wild and free life that’s surrounded with more learning opportunities than I ever had as a kid and they are thriving.

In this space, we share the good, the bad and the ugly. Farming isn’t all peaches and rainbows as much as we’d like to think it is. It’s hard work and requires a lot of discipline - but don’t let that sway you from running after it with all you’ve got in you.

Leaving the city was the best thing we’ve ever done - and now, we are teaching others how to homestead no matter where you live because we have learned that there are SO many things you can do regardless of space. So follow along with us as we dive into the real life behind the scenes of homesteading and raising a family with God in the center of it all. We’re so glad you landed here and sure do hope you stick around for the ride - it’s a wild one, be warned!

We haven't always been a homesteading family… in fact, we ditched our lives in the city to follow a calling that God placed on our hearts. We had little to no experience and took a huge leap of faith to make this dream become a reality.

I’m Jen, the voice behind the blogs that you’ll find on this website among many other things. I’m married to Jason - the builder of all the things - and together we have two incredible children: Landon and Aria. Neither of us were raised around farming, but for some reason or another that qualified us in God’s eyes to get land and get a cow (or 6).

I still remember the day I woke up just after Jason had finished remodeling our first home together (a project that took 5 years to complete). Our house was beautiful, just as had imagined it would be. We were supposed to live there forever… that was until God placed it on my heart to leave the comfortable life we had created for a life filled with unknowns. I turned to Jason and said, we need to find land and buy a cow and sell this home. Without hesitation, Jason said, ok let’s do it. He’s always been my biggest supporter.
